Treatment Documents

A treatment goes into more depth than an outline document and sets out the project in detail. The exact structure of this document will depend on the type of media product being developed. The audience of this document is twofold:

- The production team can use it as a reference point, so that they are clear about how the product will develop and what it contains. This is vital when there is a large team developing the media production as this will help to ensure that people do not go off track. The treatment document is also a starting point for other documents to be created. Storyboards, scripts and shooting script will be created from the details contained within the document.

- The treatment document can also be shown to the client and potential investors so that they are given a clearer understanding of what the final product will be.
